A SuperCamp Wellness Person is organized, has a solid understanding of First Aid/CPR procedures, and maintains clear communication with staff and parents. A Wellness Person possesses the following qualities:
Participate in training conference calls (1-2 throughout April-June).
Read and review the Wellness Person manual.
Train staff on best practices for handling camper physical injuries, including “red flags”.
Train and review injury practices with staff; including handling bodily fluids.
Communicate with camper parents on a daily basis (typically via phone) regarding physical health updates.
Oversee the medical documentation of injuries and medication disbursement that arise at camp.
Ensure medication log books are complete and accurate.
Be the source for handling the physical needs of campers and staff.
Set up the wellness room upon arrival; includes beds and medical supplies; inventory.
Support in setting up meeting space and staff rooms.
Manage camper and staff medication distribution (up to 150 people).
Treat scrapes, cuts, sore throats, upset stomachs, and other minor injuries at camp.
Decide when a camper or staff member should be seen offsite for further medical treatment (more serious injuries or contagious diseases).
Help coordinate camper/staff transportation to medical facilities.
Be present in wellness room, office, or with campers at all times during scheduled hours.
Review camper files upon arrival to have an overview of camp needs.
Respond to emergencies that may arise during camp.
Participate alongside campers and staff throughout camp activities to build connections with campers and knowledge of camper well-being.
Support in office coverage when needed.
Support in ensuring overall safety of campers and staff.
Alongside the Site Counselor, manage early arrival and late departure campers.
Support in social media aspects of camp (Facebook posts, picture taking and uploading).
CPR/First-Aid/AED Certified (minimum); EMT/LPN/LVN/RN preferred.
High School Diploma or GED.
At least one (1) year work experience in related field (e.g. EMT, nurse, etc.).
21+ years of age.
Able to lift 20 lbs.
Ability to set clear boundaries with campers and staff.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
Professional in your written and verbal communication.
Sound judgment; able to effectively problem solve.
Patience and understanding of youth and Millenials.
Previous SuperCamp experience preferred, but not required.
Available during summer for placement (June through mid-August).
Desire a long-term relationship with Quantum Learning Network.
This position is paid an hourly wage.
