I always get the gardening bug in February. It hits like clockwork every year. We enjoy a week or two of spring-like weather here in Southern California, and I find myself irresistibly drawn to the local nursery.

This year went down like every other—at the nursery, I piled a wheelbarrow full of bulbs, mint, bell peppers, bok choy, and lettuce into my car. Once home, I carefully transplanted each seedling into our raised bed, watered the soil, and waited for the magic to happen.

Prep Classes Aren’t Enough, Even for Students Who Know Their Stuff

If you’re familiar with gardening, you know that even the strongest specimens won’t take root if the soil doesn’t have the right mix of nutrients. What starts out healthy will either wither or fail to thrive. The promised harvest won’t arrive without adequate support.

The same is true when it comes to SAT and ACT prep classes. You can purchase the very best package, but if the “soil” of your child’s mind isn’t properly cultivated, the information isn’t going to take root. Day-to-day concerns will crowd out vocabulary definitions and math formulas. Worse still, your child may panic in a critical moment and forget well-learned material.

SuperCamp—Like Fertilizer for Your Child’s SAT and ACT Study Plan

At SuperCamp, our SAT and ACT preview session gives students an idea of what to expect from the two tests, including the new SAT. But the entire SuperCamp experience is actually invaluable preparation for the standardized exams. Over the 10-day program, students develop critical skills such as time management and how to read faster and with greater comprehension. They also learn how to easily recall information and manage test-taking anxiety.

As a result, when SuperCamp grads take an SAT and ACT prep class, the information actually takes permanent root in their brains. And when they find themselves taking the real test, they have the benefit of not only the standard prep material, but also of all the knowledge and mental tools that they developed at SuperCamp.

The SAT and ACT Will Be Here Soon—Is Your Child Ready?

Now we’re well into March, and my garden is more robust than ever. I’m starting to harvest the herbs—which are threatening to overgrow the box—and the bell peppers are in full bloom. Fertilizing the soil early and often made all the difference.

March also means your junior in high school only has six months left to prepare for the SAT or ACT. If you have a freshman or a sophomore, it’s equally important that they are exposed to an experience like SuperCamp; everything they learn over the next year or two will determine their success on the exams. What are you doing between now and this fall to cultivate your child’s mind?

It doesn’t make sense to invest in expensive SAT or ACT prep classes if the material doesn’t stick. Give your child the rich mental soil he or she needs with SuperCamp. You can find out more by downloading a free copy of our special report, Why Most Students Aren’t Prepared for College, or by calling us at 800.228.5327.

High school is one of the most important periods of a child’s life. It is in high school where your child will learn of his passions, his ambitions, and some of his life goals. With so many things happening at the same time, your child may become overwhelmed. To help your child cope with these changes, you can send him to SuperCamp’s Senior Forum, which is specifically designed for high school students.

The Senior Forum
SuperCamp’s Senior Forum is an innovative, 10-day summer camp for teens that teaches teens how to unlock their hidden potential and use it to take on the challenges that they will encounter in high school, while preparing them for college as well. Students also learn the importance of critical thinking so they can apply it in their everyday life.

Here are just a few of the areas that the Senior Forum teaches in its residential 10-day summer camp:

Academic Techniques
In Senior Forum, students learn the secrets of quantum learning strategies that will help them in their quest to academic excellence. These learning strategies will be applicable and will remain relevant in any academic situation. Mastering these quantum strategies will significantly decrease your child’s information clutter and help them to work most efficiently.

Emotional and Relationship Strategies
High school is a difficult time for teens. With physical and hormonal changes bombarding their daily life, it is no surprise to see most of them succumbing to stress. To help teens deal with the overwhelming stress accompanied by their growth process and increasing academic work load, SuperCamp teaches emotional and relationship strategies to keep all aspects of their life in balance.

Reputation Management
The internet has played a significant role in this generation. Most teens thrive on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr, without realizing that they may be endangering their reputation by posting questionable content in their accounts. SuperCamp Senior Forum strives to enlighten teens by teaching them how to become responsible internet denizens. Students will realize the importance of internet ethics and will become more prudent and responsible in their social media use. Now that most college recruiters and employers use social media to screen applicants, it is in the student’s best interest to keep his image clean and protect himself against the harmful implications of a bad online reputation.

The Eight Keys of Excellence
The Eight Keys of Excellence are a set of core principles designed to mold your children into individuals brimming with excellence. This is the foundation on which SuperCamp is built, and it is the most important part of the entire Senior Forum experience. Aristotle once attributed excellence as a habit, and immersing teens in the Eight Keys of Excellence will significantly help them in becoming great individuals who will change the world. The Eight Keys of Excellence are: integrity, failure leads to success, speak with good purpose, “this is it!,” commitment, ownership, flexibility, and balance.

Sneak Preview of SuperCamp Methods Allow Students to Give Real-time Feedback

Sedrick Keyes, Facilitator in Training, welcomes students to SuperCamp.

We enjoyed a 2-hour demonstration of SuperCamp in action today as this year’s Facilitators practiced teaching in front of local middle and high school students to give real-time feedback.

Sam, a local high school student, was the most out-going kid in the room, shouting out answers, jumping out of his chair and over the table to volunteer to pass out materials, leading the team share and bringing an energy to learning that most teachers usually only dream of.

It wasn’t until the end of the session, when his high school teacher made the comment that this was the most he’d heard Sam say all year, that we understood the profound impact these SuperCamp strategies had in changing Sam’s life.

Allison Logue and Katie Fierro, SuperCamp Facilitators, hone their skills for the 2013 summer camp season.

His progress in just two hours is a testament to the SuperCamp Facilitators and Quantum Learning methods. Sam demonstrated in just two hours what an astounding difference this 10-day academic summer camp can create in a child’s life and how impactful positive energy is in supporting learning.

We eagerly anticipate the coming summer months when SuperCamps will commence at universities throughout the U.S. and we will enjoy similar experiences with hundreds of teens just like Sam. We are excited to share these life-changing methods to help your child reach their potential.
